As part of a recent NBS webinar on collaborative specification writing, Chris Dixon (Associate Architect at Franklin Ellis Architects) described how he had worked with Dulux Trade to develop paint systems specifications for a complex building project.

NBS AND AUTODESK

NBS has a longstanding partnership with Autodesk, and has been recognised as an Autodesk Solution Associate. The integration of NBS Chorus and Autodesk Revit® allows users to develop their model and specification simultaneously, which greatly reduces the risk of information becoming out of sync and enables users to work smarter and more safely. Chorus also integrates with Autodesk 360, Common Data Environment.

THE STORY SO FAR

INTELLIGENT SPECIFICATION WRITING

International design practice Ryder Architecture was the first NBS customer to produce a specification using NBS Chorus, the cloud-based platform. Transitioning from Microsoft Word (their previous specification writing tool) to NBS Chorus has been a step change for Ryder, and has brought the process of specification writing into the 21st century.

One client is the Department for Education (DfE), who Bond Bryan Digital assisted in applying Industry Foundation Classes with the classification system, Uniclass.

Our latest research is about construction product information, which we have not researched for several years. We have always been keen to monitor trends in information formats that specifiers find most useful: particularly the trend towards digital forms of data. This is covered in this research, but there are bigger themes underlying this, which have taken on particular significance in the past few years: namely, building safety and environmental sustainability.
