Abstract
Establishes a much needed basis for good practice in design, installation, verification and regulation of testing gas protection systems with site-specific advice covering verification activity. Recommendations cover the role and responsibilities of local authority regulators who should be involved as early as possible in the development and planning stages. Emphasizes the importance of investigation, assessment, remediation and verification procedures. The importance for specifiers to understand the issues of hazardous ground gases and the properties, characteristics and permeability of materials that can be used in protection systems.
