Abstract
Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers slate or tiled pitched roofs: ventilation to outside air. Failures discussed include condensation, mould growth, corrosion and rot in roof space. Defects discussed include inadequate provision for ventilating roof space to outside air.
