Abstract
Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers roofs: eaves gutters and downpipes - specification. Failures discussed include rain penetration of external walls; and deterioration of walls. Defects discussed include gutters undersized, omitted, poorly supported; and downpipes poorly fixed, mis-positioned relative to gullies, not accessible for cleaning.
