Abstract
Intended to remind and inform designers and site supervisory staff of ways of avoiding some of the most troublesome defects which have beset Local Authority housing. This Defect Action Sheet covers plasterboard ceilings for direct decoration: nogging and fixing - site work. Failures discussed include ceilings uneven, sagging; and cracking at board joints and perimeter. Defects discussed include noggings omitted at joints or perimeter; nails incorrect size or too widely spaced; and boards incorrect thickness for support centres.
