Abstract
Summarises the current guidelines for assessing the condition of buildings containing high alumina cement (HAC) concrete. It gives the principal sources of more detailed guidance and suggests how this guidance may be used beyond the original scope of the data obtained from earlier investigations. In the light of more recent data, attention is drawn to aspects in which special care may be needed, such as the use of in-situ tests for strength or the assessment of strength of wet HAC concrete, even in the absence of chemical attack.
