Abstract
BRESIM is a simplified technique to determine approximately the infiltration and ventilation rates of large and complex buildings. It is a complete and easy-to-use package comprised of robust, inexpensive equipment together with a protocol for its use, designed to help non-specialists carry out assessments of the ventilation performance of buildings. This paper describes briefly the underlying basis of BRESIM and illustrates its application in two quite dissimilar buildings. Results from such measurements can be used to assess the need for, or the benefits of, remedial measures.
