Abstract
Poor or inadequate specification is a common cause of unsatisfactory performance of windows. In recent years, the use of a performance-oriented approach to the selection of windows has increased, supported by the availability of performance-based British Standards and other specifications. For many performance attributes, requirements for windows in particular use situations can be quantified and assessed by established tests. This Digest identifies performance requirements and assessment tests for windows, and reviews relevant British Standards and other information.
