Abstract
Supplements the BRE Report The strength properties of timber. Provides a summary of the physical and mechanical properties of 12 timber species supplied from current commercial resources. Small clear test samples were prepared, conditioned at 20°C and 65% relative humidity, and tested in accordance with British Standard BS 373:1957[2]. Test results include moisture content, density, specific gravity, modulus of rupture and modulus of elasticity from static bending tests, impact strength, and compression strength parallel to the grain.
