Abstract
A competition run by Knightstone Housing Association to find ecological approaches and means to housebuilding was won by Architype Dean Design. Houses were expected to achieve at least 9.5 out of 10 under the National Home Energy Rating scheme and the Building Research Establishment [BRE] Environmental Standard, BRE's successor to BREEAM for new houses. Ecological construction, materials and the approach to energy [efficiency] and air quality are described in this report.
