Abstract
Magnesian limestones have frequently been compared unfavourable with harder and more consistent materials such as Carboniferous limestone. Research has shown that concrete can nevertheless be made to a consistently high grade using course aggregate from crushed Magnesian limestone in combination with a natural sand. Greater use could also be made of sand from crushed Magnesian limestone. This paper will help those responsible for the design and specification of concrete mixes and for planning sources of aggregates in future years.
