Abstract

The Technical Report presents an interim methodology for the design of immersed tube tunnels using the recently developed Steel-Concrete-Steel sandwich construction system. Aspects of the design which are considered in detail include buoyancy during float-out and immersion, loading conditions and combinations, appropriate methods of analysis and limit state design resistance to forces acting both along the axis of the tunnel and in the plane of the tunnel cross-section.
