Abstract
Building study: Nicholas Grimshaw and partners dye house and textile manufacturing facility for the Parkland Group uses highly transparent transitional spaces to integrate all the building's areas of activity and to celebrate the manufacturing process. The constituent elements of the external envelope are modular and enable compositional flexibility in articulating changes to the internal organisation. Composite metal panels and interchangeable glazing units make up the primary cladding system. These are interrupted at the entrance and along the south elevation with repetitive full height bays of Planar glazing. Architect: Nicholas Grimshaw and partners. Also includes working details of an integrated signage/display and furniture system.
