Abstract
Evaluates the extent and significance of twist in UK-grown and commercially prepared Sitka spruce. It describes how top weighting during kiln drying, together with modified kiln schedules, can reduce twisting, and demonstrates generally good distortional stability of dried timber under subsequent fluctuating humidity conditions in storage and use.
