Abstract
The demands made on office buildings and environmental systems designed for typical nine to five use are changing. This book defines a number of modern working patterns, and considers how a knowledge of these might influence the development of specifications for office construction and fit-out. The publication is divided into five sections: Overview - how change in office use demands a new approach to environmental services; New research - uses models to explain work patterns, building types and HVAC systems; Affinities - between work patterns, building types and environmental systems; Case studies - real implications of new ways of working and occupants' reactions to their workplace; Product directions and design implications - the changing nature of IT and office work.
