Traffic Advisory Leaflet 4/97 Rising bollards
Publication Year
1997
Document Status
Current
Abstract
Rising Bollards are a relatively recent development and, whilst doubts have been expressed as to the legality of their use, they can be effective when used to enforce Traffic Regulations Orders (TROs) that are time related or restrict access to particular classes of traffic. Other applications include controlling the entry of small numbers of vehicles into otherwise pedestrianised areas, and ensuring that bus gates are not used by other road users.
