Report BR 358 Quiet homes: a guide to good practice and reducing the risk of poor sound insulation between dwellings
Publication Year
1998
Document Status

Abstract
Intended to help designers and those on site to improve the standards of sound insulation. It shows how to avoid the mistakes that reduce the sound insulation of existing widely used construction types. Complaints about noise from neighbours are mounting; the demands placed on dwellings to provide sound insulation have never been greater; current materials are not always being used to their best advantage in designs; and workmanship problems mean that good designs do not always fulfil their potential. Use of the guidance in this manual will lead to better sound insulation between dwellings and a better noise environment for occupants.
