Abstract
Four women architects [the Japanese Ikiko Takahashi and Kajuo Sejima, the American Liz Diller, the Briton Christine Hawley] were invited by the architect Arata Isozaki to design idealised social housing apartments, from a woman's perspective, in Gifu, Japan, which would serve as a critique of the post-Second World War system-built blocks which can be seen across the whole of Japan.
