Abstract
McLaren leisure centre, Callender, Scotland is the first major building in the UK to feature the most radical form of breathing construction, dynamic insulation. Breathing construction, natural ventilation and careful materials specification help to prevent indoor air quality problems, as well as being energy efficient. Gives explanations of the terms 'moisture-permeable' and 'air-permeable' as forms of breathing construction. Describes the benefits of dynamic insulation and gives design advice.
