Abstract
The guidance in this document describes in step-by-step fashion good practice for: the identification of sites where contamination may exist and where the guidance may apply; the collation of data relating to the type and extent of contamination; the consultation with regulatory and planning authorities; the design and execution of ground investigations; the application of generic assessment criteria, e.g. guideline values, on contaminants in soil; the site-specific risk estimation; the selection and implementation of a remedial strategy; the verification and monitoring and the management of information and reporting.
