Abstract
Proposes two basic methods of floor slab design. One utilises the modified equations of Westergaard, and is used for wheel and rack loading. The other is based upon discrete element analysis and is used for uniform loading. The problem of more than one load inducing stress at any point is accommodated in the design. A table is given showing the maximum loads that may be imposed on different thicknesses of floor slab.
