Abstract
Outlines procedures for care and maintenance of sprinkler systems to ensure that they remain fully operational and that periodic assessments are carried out to verify that protection is appropriate to the hazards.

Formed from a merger of the Fire Offices Committee, the Fire Insurers Research and Testing Organisation and the Insurers Technical Bureau in 1984, the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) later went on to develop a certification body, the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), itself taken over by BRE Certification in April 2000.
