Gives practical guidance on the design of storage reservoirs for flood control in partly urbanised catchment areas. It explains in detail the hydrological procedures for flood estimation and routing associated with design, including a simplified flood estimation method for small catchments. These is comprehensive information on detailed design aspects, including guidance on embankment and overflow structures and the selection of flow control devices. The book concludes with a detailed discussion of operational aspects and provides guidance on the maintenance of embankments and grassed areas, channels, pollutant traps, mechanical and electrical devices and safety equipment.
