Abstract
Two projects undertaken by BSRIA have been based around practical experiments on the use of the water treatment for the control of legionellosis in hot and cold water service systems; specifically chlorine dioxide and silver/copper ionisation. This article briefly outlines the background and results of this research, the potential effectiveness of ionisation and chlorine dioxide against legionellae and the implications for temperature regimes.
