Abstract
Specifies requirements and recommendations for the design and installation of ESFR sprinkler systems in buildings. It covers occupancies, storage arrangements, installation design, building requirements and the management of protected buildings which is essential to ensure satisfactory performance of ESFR sprinkler systems.

Formed from a merger of the Fire Offices Committee, the Fire Insurers Research and Testing Organisation and the Insurers Technical Bureau in 1984, the Loss Prevention Council (LPC) later went on to develop a certification body, the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB), itself taken over by BRE Certification in April 2000.
