Abstract
An updated review of the history and epidemiology of problems with metal components in walls, particularly wall ties. Together with IP 13/90, Digests 329 (2000 edition) and 401, and Good Building Guide 29, this Digest offers a package of information dealing with the recognition of problems and remedial installation of wall ties, straps and fixings into existing walls.
