Abstract
Describes the technical basis of BREDEM-12, the current annual version of the BRE Domestic Energy Model. The principles behind the model are discussed and the equations are listed. Sufficient information to implement the model is also given. BREDEM-12 predicts the annual energy consumption in dwellings using estimates of the following energy uses: Space heating, Water heating, Lighting and electrical appliances, and Cooking. Also, a number of different factors are taken into account including building construction, heating systems and controls, and location.
