Abstract
Proper design of space heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration, and other industrial systems requires knowledge of thermal insulations and thermal-moisture behaviour of building structures. This chapter deals with heat and moisture transfer definitions, fundamentals and properties of thermal insulation materials, heat flow calculations, economic thickness of insulation, and the fundamentals of moisture as it relates to building components and systems.
