Abstract
Details the chronological development of the styles and components of the cased frame and sash window, shutters and associated joinery, finishes, materials and ironmongery. The research upon which this report was based covers buildings of all periods from the late seventeenth century to the interwar period of the twentieth, of many types and all main architectural styles.
