Abstract
Aimed at engineers who need to plan or develop sites which have previously been mined. A description of methods of mining used along with the effects, both short and long term, to surface stability are given. Comparison with more modern methods is included for illustration purposes, covering the application of structural design techniques for surface effects. Also covers site investigations, mining investigations, consolidation of old mine workings, remedial measures and foundation design options.
