Abstract

Reviews work carried out into the development of a wall yielding technique in which controlled movements are imposed on the internal boundaries of retaining structures to reduce the lateral forces acting upon them. The experimental studies involved investigations of the behaviour of both model and large scale reinforced soil and conventional retaining walls.
