Abstract
Explains how 'Designing Places' should be applied to new housing. 'Designing Places', published in 2001, sets out the Scottish Executive's aspirations for design and the role of the planning system in delivering them. Discusses Scotland's housing aspirations, successful places, poor design, implementation, design toolkits, roles in the planning process, building standards and case studies. Also relates to SPP 3: Planning and Housing.
