Abstract
Provides guidance on disposal options for contaminated soils, where the soils have been identified as being contaminated and a decision made to dispose or recover them off-site. It deals with disposal to landfill and considers the use of such materials in instances where exemptions have been registered under the Waste Management Licensing Regulations 1994 (as amended). Does not relate to the Contaminated Land provisions of Part IIA of the Environmental Protection Act 1990, although contaminated soils, as defined here, may arise from remediation undertaken as part of regulatory regimes.
