Abstract
Summarises an investigation of the design of structural systems in modern commercial buildings which the facility for integration of the structure and building services within the same floor zone. Reviews the general requirements for building services, especially air conditioning, the utilisation of the principles of composite construction for designs of 15m, and the distribution of air conditioning ducts with respect to the structural systems considered in the investigation. Also makes general estimates of construction costs, taking into account the influence of the costs of service distribution and other variable aspects of the construction process.
