Abstract
Reports on research undertaken for the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister (ODPM) to review the GPDO (General Permitted Development) Order 1995 and any issues and problems associated with the current operation of permitted development rights. Matters to be considered included how to make the GPDO clearer and more comprehensible, the need for greater consistency within it, how it could provide greater support for Government policy aims, the effectiveness of the Articles and the need for extending, or imposing more restrictions on, existing permitted development rights.
