Abstract
Designed to promote efficient policy development and resource allocation across government. It does this by informing decision making, and by improving the alignment of departmental and agency policies, programmes and projects with government priorities and the expectations of the public. The guidance emphasises the need to take account of the wider social costs and benefits of proposals, and the need to ensure the proper use of public resources.
