Summarises current knowledge about the condition of soils. It highlights some of the major concerns that the Environment Agency wants to tackle and explains some of the actions being taken to help protect and improve soils. Covers the importance of soil; the interdependence of soil, water and air; soil, wildlife and biodiversity; producing food and fibre; providing raw materials; the built environment; and cultural heritage.
