Abstract

In recent years the ecological and visual amenity of many Irish landscapes has been seriously affected by developments such as urban sprawl, road construction, the growth of industry, commercial forestry and an upsurge in the development of holiday homes, which are overpowering some traditional villages, towns and coastal areas.
