Abstract
Indicates how the client should go about the processes involved in building projects, what help may be available, where pitfalls may lie and how to ask the right questions. It has been written to help clients who have been selected to receive funding in the Arts Capital Programme to get the best from their projects, and accompanies a series of training programmes. It outlines client responsibilities and indicates the client contribution to achieving good design.

Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment
Now defunct, the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment was the government's advisor on architecture, urban design and public space. They replaced the Royal Fine Art Commission in 1999. In April 2011, the Design Council and CABE joined to become one organisation.
