Abstract
Gives advice to owners and managers on the restoration of those ancient woodland sites which were planted predominantly with non-native species since the 1930s. The emphasis is on the potential contribution of restoration to biodiversity and the practical considerations for successful development of native woodland. Covers what restoration is, why it should be considered, what the qualities are of potential sites, whether and when a site should be restored and finally how it should be restored.
