Abstract
Consultation on revisions to the criteria used to assess a building's suitability for listing. The Government considers that the current criteria are broad and unclear and that the practice used by English Heritage when assessing buildings for listing needs to be clarified.

Consultation closed on 17th October 2005. No longer applicable as PPG 15 superseded by Planning policy statement 5: planning for the historic environment (DCLG, 2010).
