Abstract

Outlines proposals for a major programme to improve primary schools across the country, in which half of all primary schools will be rebuilt or refurbished over the next 15 years.

Consultation closed on 14 June 2006. Superseded by Every child matters: primary capital programme. Primary strategy for change - guidance for local authorities on developing, agreeing and implementing a strategic approach to capital investment for primary schools (DCSF, 2007).
