Abstract

Reviews the legislative framework relating to drainage and describes the functions, responsibilities and roles of the regulatory bodies, the developer, and others involved in surface drainage. It examines the various planning, statutory, economic, social, organisational, operational and environmental factors that currently influence the extent to which different methods of control are utilised. Also contains recommendations as to how drainage procedures might be improved and how new practices and guidelines might be introduced.
