Publication Year
2006
Document Status
Withdrawn
Abstract
To detail the infrastructure changes which may be implemented as part of the development of route specific, emergency access and egress procedures, to contribute to the significant reduction in the delays to road users when an incident or adverse weather has resulted in a blocked carriageway.
Document History
Superseded by GD 368 Infrastructure requirements for emergency access and egress from motorway and all‐purpose trunk roads (formerly IAN 68/05) (HE, 2020). Interim Advice Notes (IANs) are issued by the Highways Agency from time to time. They contain specific Guidance, which shall only be used in connection with works on motorways and trunk roads in England, subject to any specific implementation instructions contained within an IAN. Whilst IANs must be read in conjunction with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW) for the above works, and may incorporate amendments or additions to documents in these manuals, they are not part of the DMRB or MCHW. To be read in conjunction with IAN 75/06. This IAN does not apply in Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland.
