Abstract
Compiles two lectures and discussions ensuing from six technical sessions. The keynote lecture concerns research into the effects of tunnelling-induced ground movements on buildings as measured during the Jubilee Line extension project in London. The technical sessions cover prediction of damage to structures from tunnelling, effectiveness and viability of protective measures, management of monitoring, prediction of damage to buildings and subsurface structures from open excavations, and effects of building stiffness, different configurations and time. Includes submitted conference papers.
