Abstract
Explains the requirements of the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Regulations and how they will affect NHS trusts. Identifies the relevant stakeholders and their responsibilities. Stresses the importance of linking procurement of EEE and disposal of WEEE, and of tracking EEE purchases made at a department/ward level. Describes under what circumstances the treatment of EEE must be financed, and describes its recycling, recovery and environmentally sound disposal. Considers factors when developing a trust-wide policy on purchase and disposal.
