Abstract

Gives advice for improving the performance of surfacing to bridge decks (especially surfaces less than 120mm thick) and for application of waterproofing systems on concrete less than 28 days old.

Document History

Superseded by CD 358 Highway structures and bridges. Design. Waterproofing and surfacing of concrete bridge decks (formerly BD 47/99, BA 47/99, and IAN 96/07) (HE, 2019). Interim Advice Notes (IANs) are issued by the Highways Agency from time to time. They contain specific Guidance, which shall only be used in connection with works on motorways and trunk roads in England, subject to any specific implementation instructions contained within an IAN. Whilst IANs must be read in conjunction with the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCHW) for the above works, and may incorporate amendments or additions to documents in these manuals, they are not part of the DMRB or MCHW. To be read with HA BD 47/99. Revision 1 intends to clarify aspects of this IAN, indicated by revision marks in the margin.
