Abstract

Looks at solar roofing. Examines research being carried out into solar technology, how photovoltaic cells work and the different solar technologies available. Also takes a look at Christoph Behling's Serpentine solar shuttle, located on the lake in London's Hyde Park. The solar shuttle can carry up to 42 passengers at the speed of 8 kilometres per hour, powered entirely by the sun. Also includes case studies looking at the following concepts: solar powered mosques (concept developed by SolarLab and DK Composites); solar-powered inflatable structure (idea developed by SolarLab and Inflate) and turning pods (concept developed by SolarLab).
