Abstract
Describes how sprinklers work and considers why there may be some resistance to their more widespread adoption despite their success. Seeks to dispel the perception that sprinklers cause water damage to property. Considers ways to counter vandalism and of off-setting cost through reducing passive protection and other safety measures. Presents case histories and identifies key installation and design standards.
