Abstract
Reviews publications concerned with improving design of continuous flight augured piles in chalk. Documents considered include CIRIA’s ‘Shaft friction of CFA piles in chalk' (Project Report 86) and ‘Foundations in chalk’ (Project Report 11). Suggests an approach to design in the light of limitations to existing information.
